Annual Fund Drives
A core operation for Northern Berkshire and other United Ways is the annual fund drive; these produce nearly all of the funds that are shared with/invested in social service agencies and programs. NBUW typically raises more than $600,000 through these “campaigns” which begin in September with a kick-off event, have a “home-stretch” in December, and wind up in January.
In this tab of our website, there is recent campaign news, a summary progress report, a list of employers and employee groups recognized for their generosity to the prior campaign, and a list of the individuals or households in our Red Feather Society (celebrates donors of $500 and more). NBUW’s annual fund drives have grown 50% in recent years, and more than 90% of this gain is traceable to increases from Red Feather donors.
With the very small staff at NBUW, most campaign planning and work is done by volunteers led by the Campaign Chair, Campaign Cabinet, Red Feather Chair, Red Feather Committee, and other volunteer teams.
