Unstable federal funding and shifting policies are threatening the reduction or elimination of food assistance, specifically SNAP benefits, which serve more than 1 million people in our state. Because of the President’s decision to end SNAP benefits during the shutdown, beginning November 1, there will be a delay in the issuance of SNAP benefits until the federal government reopens. In partnership with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United Way is responding to these direct threats to SNAP with a new statewide effort to support Massachusetts residents whose SNAP benefits are being put at significant risk. Please donate to the United Response Fund, which will deploy emergency financial assistance to individuals and families who will experience disruptions to their food assistance benefits through SNAP. Together, we can rapidly respond this crisis at a scale that is greater than what any individual or organization can do alone.
